Job Description: 
  • Serve as the link between home, school, and the community to promote our students’ overall academic, personal, and social well-being.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with other professional staff members to achieve district and building goals.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments to inform educational planning and the need for comprehensive service provision. 
  • Understand theories of normal and exceptional development, as well as their application to all students. 
  • Utilize family strengths and structures to encourage their involvement in and support of their children’s education and well-being. 
  • Offer professional learning to teachers to enhance their knowledge of social/emotional and behavioral needs and their impact on academic success.
  • Assist teachers with classroom management, including collaboration in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and in the implementation of behavior management and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). 
  • Support the building intervention team in addressing social-emotional and behavioral skill deficits.
  • Provide both group and individual-based psychological counseling services to students, primarily as required by students' Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s).
  • Implement prevention programs, according to data, for topics such as, but not limited to, school violence, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, conflict resolution, child abuse, positive self-image, social skills, and character education. 
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed. 
  • Form strong collaborative relationships with community agencies and coordinate systems of care to provide wrap-around services, making referrals to such community-based agencies as necessary. 
  • Attend and actively participate in CSE/CPSE, prereferral, and Section 504 Accommodation Team meetings. 
  • Maintain case records, progress toward individual student goals, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Monitor and effectively communicate with staff and parents about student progress. 
  • Participate in activities that lead to continued professional growth. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration and/or the Superintendent of Schools.

Athletic Director/Assistant Principal (Grades 7–8) must hold or be eligible for New York State Certification as a School Building / District Leader and/or equivalent certification approved by the New York State Education Department.

The ideal candidate possesses a wide array of experience, skills, and attributes, including but not limited to: 
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in education. Building-level or district-level leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate the recruitment, hiring, development, and evaluation of employees.  
  • Dynamic leadership skills that support the advancement of the District’s Strategic Plan.
  • Coaching experience at the modified, junior varsity, and varsity levels is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of local leagues, Section V, and NYSPHSAA rules and regulations
  • Such alternatives to the above minimum qualifications, as the Board of Education and the Superintendent find appropriate and acceptable, will be considered.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Athletic Director/Assistant Principal (Grades 7–8) is responsible for the supervision of all athletic programs and coaches, as well as student management and instructional support at the middle level.  Additionally, the position requires the successful candidate to supervise faculty & staff, conduct observations, and communicate effectively with parents.
 
ATHLETICS  
  • Develops short- and long-term goals for the improvement of athletic programs consistent with best practices, the highest standards, and the District’s goals.
  • Supervises and promotes in the community, the establishment and operation of a sound and competitive interscholastic athletic program for all schools in the District.
  • Is the liaison between interscholastic programs and youth/community programs.
  • Develops and submits an annual budget in line with Athletic Department program goals for the purpose of purchasing supplies and equipment for the district athletic program.
  • Implements District policies as they pertain to interscholastic athletics.
  • Leads the screening, selection, hiring, induction, assignment, and professional growth of athletics staff members.
  • Supervises and evaluates athletic coaches in the District in line with the District’s chosen evaluation tools.
  • Represents the District at all League, Conference, Section, and NYS athletics meetings 
  • Coordinates the athletic schedule of schools in the District, as they pertain to facilities, transportation, officials, etc.
  • Assumes responsibility for security and ticket admissions at all athletic events.
  • Coordinates with the Facilities Department for the use of indoor and outdoor athletic facilities for District and community programs.
  • Keeps abreast of relevant changes and developments in athletics and uses this knowledge for continuous improvement.
  • Utilizes the District’s website and social media platforms to promote the athletic department.
  • Creatively celebrates the accomplishments of athletes and coaches.
  • Facilitates Athletic Advisory Meetings.
  • Enforces the Student Athlete Handbook in conjunction with the Student Code of Conduct.
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (Grades 7-8)
  • Work as part of the High School Administrative Team and collaborate with the High School Principal and Assistant Principal for Grades 9-12 to provide managerial and instructional leadership.
  • Support the advancement of instructional practices through the evaluation of performance and provision of feedback, to support continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Implement and continually refine a thoughtful, fair, and effective approach to student discipline that reflects innovative, progressive, and restorative approaches to student behavior that encourage accountability, reflection, and growth.
  • Create and clearly communicate disciplinary procedures and policies to students, families, and faculty.
  • Coordinate and lead meetings with students and families regarding academic and/or behavioral concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with school counselors to implement the MTSS framework, ensuring that every student receives the appropriate academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support needed for success.
OTHER DUTIES
  • Collaborates with the school nurse to ensure that student physicals comply with NYS education law and NYSPHSAA and NYSED regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Athletic Director/Assistant Principal (Grades 7–8) is a 12-month, full-time position reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools. Salary and benefits are aligned with the Dansville Administrators Association contract and will be determined in consultation with the Superintendent, based on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Coordinating and leading the preschool evaluation team
  • Facilitating Early Intervention to CPSE transition planning and coordination services for preschool students.
